चायनीज फिलॉसफर लाओत्से के कथन

Dear friends लाओ-सू, लाओ-सी या लाओ-से प्राचीन चीन के एक प्रसिद्ध दार्शनिक थे, जो ताओ ते चिंग नाम के मशहूर उपदेश लेखक के रूप में जाने जाते हैं। उनकी विचारधाराओं पर आधारित धर्म को ताओ धर्म कहते हैं। लाओ-सू एक सम्मान जतलाने वाली उपाधि है, जिसमें 'लाओ' का अर्थ 'आदरणीय वृद्ध' और 'सू' का अर्थ 'गुरु' है। चीनी परम्परा के अनुसार लाओ-सू छठी शताब्दी ईसापूर्व में झोऊ राजवंश के काल में जीते थे। इतिहासकारों में इनकी जीवनी को लेकर विवाद है। कुछ कहते हैं कि वे एक काल्पनिक व्यक्ति हैं, कुछ कहते हैं कि इन्हें बहुत से महान व्यक्तियों को मिलकर एक व्यक्तित्व में दर्शाया गया है और कुछ कहते हैं कि वे वास्तव में चीन के झोऊ काल के दुसरे भाग में झगड़ते राज्यों के काल में (यानि पांचवीं या चौथी सदी ईसापूर्व में) रहते थे। आइये जानते हैं आज हम उनके अनमोल कथन ...

• Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

किसी के द्वारा गहराई से प्रेम किया जाना ताकत देता है, और किसी को गहराई से प्रेम करना साहस देता है.

• Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

कठिन चीज तब करो जब वे आसान हों और महान चीज तब करो जब वे छोटी हों. हज़ारों मील की यात्रा एक कदम के साथ शुरू होती है.

• If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.

अगर आप दिशा नहीं बदलते, तो शायद आप वहीँ पहुँच जाएंगे जिधर आप बढ़ रहे हैं.

• To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.

वह मन जो स्थिर है, उसके प्रति पूर्ण ब्रह्माण्ड समर्पित हो जाता है.

• When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you.

जब तुम उससे संतुष्ट हो जाते हो जो तुम हो और खुद की न किसी से तुलना करते हो न प्रतिस्पर्धा करते हो, तब सब लोग तुम्हारा सम्मान करते हैं. 

• Kindness in words creates confidence.  Kindness in thinking creates profoundness.  Kindness in giving creates love.

शब्दों में दयालुता आत्मविश्वास पैदा करती है. सोच में दयालुता गूढ़ता लाती है. देने में दयालुता प्रेम पैदा करती है.

• The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

हज़ारों मील की यात्रा एक कदम के साथ शुरू होती है।

• Treat those who are good with goodness, and also treat those who are not good with goodness.  Thus goodness is attained.  Be honest to those who are honest, and be also honest to those who are not honest.  Thus honesty is attained. 

जो अच्छे हैं उनके साथ अच्छा व्यवहार करो, और जो अच्छे नहीं हैं उनके साथ भी अच्छा व्यवहार करो. इस तरह से अच्छाई प्राप्त होती है. उनके साथ ईमानदार रहो जो ईमानदार हैं,और उनके साथ भी ईमानदार रहो जो ईमानदार नहीं हैं. इस तरह से ईमानदारी प्राप्त होती है.

• I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion.  These three are your greatest treasures.

मेरे पास सिखाने के लिए बस तीन बातें हैं : सादगी, धैर्य, दया. ये तीनो आपका सबसे बड़ा खजाना हैं.

• A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.

एक अच्छे यात्री की कोई तय योजना नहीं होती, और वह पहुंचने पर आमादा नहीं होता।

• Silence is a source of great strength.

मौन महान शक्ति का स्रोत है।

• In dwelling, live close to the ground.  In thinking, keep to the simple.  In conflict, be fair and generous.  In governing, don’t try to control.  In work, do what you enjoy.  In family life, be completely present.

रहने में, ज़मीन के निकट रहे. सोचने में, सरलता रखें. झगड़े में, निष्पक्ष एवं उदार रहें. शाशन में, नियंत्रण रखने की कोशिश ना करें. काम में, वो करें जिसमे आनंद आये. परिवार में, पूरी तरह से उपस्थित रहे.

• Music in the soul can be heard by the universe.

आत्मा का संगीत ब्रह्माण्ड द्वारा सुना जा सकता है.

• Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment.

दूसरों को जानना ज्ञान है, स्वयं को जानना आत्मज्ञान है.

• Mastering others is strength.  Mastering yourself is true power.

दूसरों पर काबू करना ताकत है. खुद पर काबू करना असली ताकत है.

• Life and death are one thread, the same line viewed from different sides.

जीवन और मृत्यु एक ही धागा है,अलग-अलग ओर से देखी गयी एक ही रेखा.

• When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.

जब मैं उसे जाने देता हूँ जो मैं हूँ, मैं वो बन जाता हूँ जो मैं हो सकता हूँ.

• Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are.  When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.

जो तुम्हारे पास है उससे संतुष्ट रहो; चीजें जैसी हैं उसमे आनंदित रहो. जब तुम इस बात का एहसास कर लेते हो कि किसी भी चीज की कमी नहीं है, पूरी दुनिया तुम्हारी हो जाती है.

• From caring comes courage.

देखभाल करने से साहस आता है।

• Health is the greatest possession.  Contentment is the greatest treasure.  Confidence is the greatest friend.

स्वास्थ्य सबसे बड़ी संपत्ति है. संतोष सबसे बड़ा खजाना है. आत्मविश्वास सबसे बड़ा  मित्र है.

• Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it.

पानी की तुलना में कुछ भी अधिक नरम या लचीला नहीं है, फिर भी कोई इसे रोक नहीं सकता.

• Manifest plainness, embrace simplicity, reduce selfishness, have few desires.

सादगी दिखाओ, सरलता को अपनाओ, स्वार्थ को कम करो, कुछ ही इच्छाएं रखो.

• He who does not trust enough, Will not be trusted.

वो जो अधिक भरोसा नहीं करता, उस पर भी भरोसा नहीं किया जाएगा.

• He who knows, does not speak. He who speaks, does not know.

वो जो  जानता है, बोलता नहीं.  वो जो बोलता है जानता नहीं.

• Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.

प्रकृति जल्दबाजी नहीं करती, फिर भी सारी चीजें पूरी हो जाती हैं.

• Those who have knowledge, don’t predict. Those who predict, don’t have knowledge.

जिनके पास ज्ञान है वो भविष्यवाणी नहीं करते. जो भविष्यवाणी करते हैं, उनके पास ज्ञान नहीं है.

• People in their handlings of affairs often fail when they are about to succeed.  If one remains as careful at the end as he was at the beginning, there will be no failure.

चीजों को संभालने में अक्सर लोग सफल होते -होते असफल हो जाते हैं.  यदि कोई अंत में उतना ही सजग रहे जितना कि वो आरम्भ में  था तो कोई असफल न हो.

• Great acts are made up of small deeds.

महान कार्य छोटे -छोटे कार्यों से बने होते हैं.

• When a nation is filled with strife, then do patriots flourish.

जब कोई राष्ट्र संघर्ष से भर जाता है, तो देशभक्त पनपते हैं.

• Nature is not human hearted.

प्रकृति में मानव ह्रदय नहीं है.

• He who is contented is rich.

वो जो संतुष्ट है धनवान है.

• If you would take, you must first give, this is the beginning of intelligence.

अगर तुम्हे चाहिए, तो पहले दो; यही बुद्धिमानी की शुरुआत है.

• The wicked leader is he who the people despise.  The good leader is he who the people revere.  The great leader is he who the people say, ‘We did it ourselves. ‘

बुरा नेता वो है जिससे लोग घृणा करते हैं.  अच्छा नेता वो है जिसकी लोग इज़्ज़त करते हैं.  महान नेता वो है जब लोग कहते हैं, ‘ ये हमने खुद किया ’.

• Be the chief but never the lord.

प्रमुख बनो पर कभी स्वामी नहीं बनो.

• To realize that you do not understand is a virtue; Not to realize that you do not understand is a defect.

ये समझ लेना कि आप नहीं समझ रहे हैं गुण है; ये नहीं समझ पाना कि आप नहीं समझ रहे हैं दोष है.

• The softest things in the world overcome the hardest things in the world.

दुनिया की सबसे कोमल चीज दुनिया की सबसे कठोर चीज को जीत लेती है.

• Govern a great nation as you would cook a small fish. Do not overdo it.

एक महान देश को ऐसे शाषित करो जैसे की छोटी मछली पकाई जाती है. ज्यादा मत पका दो.

• Violence, even well intention-ed, always rebounds upon oneself.

हिंसा, यहाँ तक की अच्छी नियत से भी की गयी हिंसा, खुद पर पलटवार करती है.

• One can not reflect in streaming water.  Only those who know internal peace can give it to others.

कोई बहते हुए पानी में अपनी परछाई नहीं देख सकता.  केवल वो जो आतंरिक शांति अनुभव करते हैं इसे दूसरों को दे सकते हैं.

• To see things in the seed, that is genius.

बीज में चीजों को देख लेना, यही जीनियस होना है.

• An ant on the move does more than a dozing ox.

एक चलती हुई चींटी एक ऊँघ रहे बैल से अधिक काम करती है.

• One who is too insistent on his own views, finds few to agree with him.

वो जो अपनी ही बात पर बहुत जोर देता है, उसे कम ही लोग समर्थन में मिलते हैं.

• He who talks more is sooner exhausted.

वो जो बहुत बोलता है जल्द ही थक जाता है.

• Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt.

अपने कटोरे को ऊपर तक भरते जाओ और वो छलक जाएगा. अपने चाकू को लगातार तेज करते जाओ और वो कुंद हो जायेगा. 

• How could man rejoice in victory and delight in the slaughter of men?

इंसान कैसे इंसानो की मौत पर जीत और ख़ुशी का जश्न मना सकता है ?

• To lead people walk behind them. 

लोगों को लीड करना है तो उनके पीछे चलो.
